RENNY School Heroes

In the first installment of RENNY School Heroes, we have Sihle Ngubane. A hockey player from Glenwood HS who is already dominating seasoned campaigners in the Durban Super League and literally everyone at school boy level. One of the most enjoyable players to watch, he has gone from strength to strength. Bona fide schoolboy hero already, we ask him some questions about both past and future.

DOB: 05 August 2001 (16 years old)

Sporting Achievements: Glenwood 1st XI Hockey (VC); KZN U18A; INK Hockey Club; sponsored by TK

Role Model/s: Paul Pogba & Robbert Kemperman

Goals: Making South Africa U17 & U18

RENNY Man (RM): How has the season gone with Glenwood so far?

Sihle (SN): This season with Glenwood hasn’t been the best due to us having a very young team. A lot of young players are growing and developing for next year so we have used this season to get that touch and grow as a team.

RM: How are you feeling going into U18 IPT (Inter Provincial Tournament)?

SN: Going into IPT I know that a lot of people are expecting a lot from me but I don’t want to put myself under pressure and I am nervous because I am one of the juniors in the team, yet there are still big expectations.

RM: What are your plans after school?

SN: I am still in grade 11 so I don’t have set plans as yet. I do hope that I carry on pursuing my hockey career though, either in SA or Europe.

Safe.
